SACC News

The second session of the School Age Care (SAC) Credential Preparatory Course began Tuesday, January 24 with 4 participants.

The Credential promotes quality services to children and families by providing specific standards, training, and evaluation of school-age staff members and providers. It is an opportunity for adults working with school-age children to gain professional recognition for demonstrating competence in their on-the-job skills. The course covers development of the school-age child, health and safety, curriculum and program planning, mandated reporting, ethics in childcare, professionalism, and the competencies needed for excellence as a school-age child care professional. The participants have spent most Tuesday nights since September in a class at the Council with their instructor, Arlene Rider. At the end of April, they will be ready for their endorser visit, which is the final step of this course.

Good luck to all our participants – Christopher Blake, Princess Combs-Lamb, Michelle DeMuro, and Vicky McDonald!
