Managing Asperger's Behaviors
In this training we will discuss Asperger's behaviors with a focus on using positive behavioral supports to target the top 3 behaviors of concern with the importance of clarity, consistency, simplicity, and continuation of reduction of challenging behaviors, celebrating and building strengths and successes, validate concerns and emotions, and active listening with the child. Changing the environment can often reduce behavioral episodes; because of this, we will also discuss adapting the environment and avoiding situations that are triggers. We will explore teaching skills and replacement behaviors such as modeling, consistent rules, and positive reinforcement. Discover what science tells us about punishment vs. rewards. Take a new look at time out and get prepared for emergency situations.
