<font color="#2E1A69">Family Relationships and Communication</font>
This staff training presents the importance developing positive family relationships and communication in a child care setting and strategies that can improve current practices. Attitudes, perceptions, center policies and indicators of quality programs that foster family relationships are addressed. Similarities/difference in the roles of parents and teachers, differences in child rearing practices, factors that undermine relationships, positive approaches to address parents with concerns and effective conferencing skills are explored. Participants will role-play a "parent conference," identify personal strengths and weaknesses, and develop strategies for "collaborative conversations." Articles and bibliography are included.
